The sentiment on this lovely Our Daily Bread Designs collage stamp is from the encouraging hymn written by John Newton (yes, that John Newton who authored many hymns including Amazing Grace). It contains a godly exhortation and admonishment that I know I all too often need as I waiver and doubt. How sweet is the sound of the refrain. . ."The Lord WILL provide," and, for those who have trusted in Christ Jesus, He HAS provided all that is truly necessary. Let us lay hold of this glorious truth that we might go forth and serve Him in all of our might, putting aside all fear, all doubt, all worry (and all sin which are evidences that we are not trusting Him).

Though Trouble Assail Us
John Newton, 1779

Though troubles assail us and dangers affright,
Though friends should all fail us and foes all unite,
Yet one thing secures us, whatever betide,
The promise assures us, “The Lord will provide.”

The birds, without garner or storehouse, are fed;
From them let us learn to trust God for our bread.
His saints what is fitting shall ne’er be denied
So long as ’tis written, “The Lord will provide.”

When Satan assails us to stop up our path,
And courage all fails us, we triumph by faith.
He cannot take from us, though oft he has tried,
This heart cheering promise, “The Lord will provide.”

He tells us we’re weak, our hope is in vain,
The good that we seek we never shall obtain,
But when such suggestions, our graces have tried,
This answers all questions, “The Lord will provide.”

No strength of our own and no goodness we claim;
Yet, since we have known of the Savior’s great Name,
In this our strong tower for safety we hide:
The Lord is our power, “The Lord will provide.”

When life sinks apace, and death is in view,
The word of His grace shall comfort us through,
Not fearing or doubting, with Christ on our side,

We hope to die shouting, “The Lord will provide"

This started out as a circle card, but the lace doily wasn't substantial enough to support, so I added a backing. The flower was made from a homemade kit given by a neighbor. The fabric circles were carefully singed (careful not to burn or breathe!) and then stacked together, held with a glitter brad. This is the thank you card that will be given in return for the sweet blessing of the kit!

Stamps: Our Daily Bread Designs Sentiments Collection and Scripture Collection 11
Ink: Versa Mark
Paper: Tan, Purple
Accessories: Spellbinders for Our Daily Bread Designs Ribbon Tag Trio Dies, scallop circles; doilies, seam binding, silver embossing powder.
