Trust not in horses

Some trust in chariots and some in horses,
but we trust in the name of the LORD our God.
Psalm 20:7

ODBD Scripture Collection 8 ~ Psalm 20:7
The bread sticks are so excited to be celebrating this special milestone in the life of ODBD!  It is such a blessing to work for a company whose desire is to bring glory to God in every stamp set created, and offers us the tools we need to do the same with every card we (re)create!  If you are a long term follower of ODBD, then you know that each year, the Design Team submits a favorite Scripture for the special anniversary sets, and those suggestions have been the sum total of all the "Scripture Collection" stamp sets in the store.  This year, the special sets include our favorite Scriptures, and also quotes and sentiments that we feel would be great on cards or projects.  I think you will find some of the most encouraging and uplifting words available in stamps in these special anniversary sets!

So now, here are the Details of the Anniversary Hop:

  • The Hop will run 8am EDT Saturday, March 17 until 8pm EDT Sunday, March 18.
  • The winners will be announced on the ODBD Blog on Monday, March 19.
  • FOUR  hoppers will win a FREE ANNIVERSARY SET and ONE blessed hopper will win The Complete Anniversary  Bread Basket Bundle!!!
Here is what you have to do to be qualified to win one of these prizes:
  • Hop to each designer’s blog and leave a comment
  • Return to the Our Daily Bread designs blog and leave a comment telling us that you completed the hop, making note if there were any you could not comment on.
  • Along with your statement that you completed the hop, leave some Anniversary wishes for Kelley and the gang at ODBD!

Next Stop:

Next up on our Anniversary Hop is the amazingly graceful and talented Becca Feeken!

Trust Not in Horses, Horseshoes or Four-Leaf Clovers!

On this day, we remember St. Patrick who brought the life saving gospel of Jesus Christ to Ireland, the country where he, after being kidnapped from his home in Wales as a youth, was sold into slavery. His ministry there is said to have rid Ireland of all snakes, a metaphor for the power of God working through the Gospel to save thousands of souls, freeing them from their bondage to sin and driving away Satan and his minions (at least for a time!). Tradition holds that Patrick used the three-leafed shamrock to explain the Trinity of Father, Son and Holy Ghost: one God, three persons.

In an attempt to hide the truth, the world has morphed this wonderful story to silliness, involving four leaf clovers, leprechauns and pots of gold; but we know the Lord is victorious and one day,  He will return!!

My card incorporates horseshoes to represent the horses and chariots in Psalm 20. Most everyone knows that you never hang horseshoes upside down, because all of the luck falls out. . .that's why ALL of the horseshoes are upside down on this card! There is no such thing as luck: God is sovereign in all things and all is working according to His perfect and holy will! I'm not trusting in horses, chariots, horseshoes, four-leaf clovers, leprechauns or pots of gold at the end of rainbows, I'm trusting in the Lord my God!!

  Psalm 20
May the Lord answer you in the day of trouble!
May the name of the God of Jacob protect you!
May he send you help from the sanctuary
and give you support from Zion!
May he remember all your offerings
and regard with favor your burnt sacrifices! Selah

May he grant you your heart's desire
    and fulfill all your plans!
May we shout for joy over your salvation,
and in the name of our God set up our banners!
May the Lord fulfill all your petitions!

Now I know that the Lord saves his anointed;
he will answer him from his holy heaven
with the saving might of his right hand.
Some trust in chariots and some in horses,
but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.
They collapse and fall,
but we rise and stand upright.

O Lord, save the king!
May he answer us when we call.
