Don't trust in horses. . .

Some trust in chariots and some trust in horses,
but we trust in the name of the Lord our God. Psalm 20:7

CHACB Challenge #4: Sparkle, Glitz or Glam

The current challenge at Craft Hoarders Anonymous is to: Show Some Sparkle, Glitz, or Glam!

Graphic 45 is our sponsor this month. They are known for their fabulous vintage products and papers. To pay homage to their glamour and style, create a project that shows off your hoarded sparkly items. Show some glitz! Pump up the glam! Use this photo collection for extra inspiration.
Gloria Designs Challenge

And one talented participant will receive a prize for their work from our fabulous sponsor.  You have until Sunday, March 30 at midnight PDT to prepare, submit and link up your project to the CHAC Blog

Project Description

What does a cowgirl call this challenge?
Bling Bang!
The very first challenge for Craft Hoarders Anonymous was to "do you" . . .or so I thought, but it was actually to "show your style" and craft a project that typifies your unique style. This is card is the first project, but then (if you'll recall), my beloved husband broke my heart (exaggeration!) and said this is cool, but it's different than your usual style. So. . .back to the drawing board and another card that passed the beloved test. That's history, though, except that this card is me! I'm a country girl, a cowgirl that loves the smell of leather and a bit of bling. But this challenge is also in honor of our fabulous sponsor and so this Graphic 45 Altered Art Matchbook Box, was covered in handmade faux leather and embellished with a buckle and concho. The concho is the embellishment on the gift card which also serves to hide the gift tucked in the box beneath. (The spur in the photos is an ornament to go with the rest of my Cowboy Christmas decor.) The scripture was stamped with Versamark on black paper and then embossed. The cardstock was then inked with Colorbox Silver pigment ink to give the impression of an engraved buckle.

From the Stash

Paper: Light tan cardstock (hoarded because it works up so nicely into faux leather); navy, silver
Ink:
Versamark, Ranger Distress Antique Linen, Tea Stain and Vintage Photo
Accessories: Graphic 45 Altered Art Matchbook Box; K & Company Chipboard "buckles"; gems from various sources; Stampin Up punch (concho); Sizzix embossing folder; SU Glassy Glaze embossing powder
Stamps: Our Daily Bread Designs Scripture Collection 9

Please visit the rest of the design team to see some AMAZING projects. Even though we're not to trust in horses and chariots, you can trust me on this one!

Blessings! jme ~ SDG

  13. Hi Jan Marie, you're right, I'm all about flowers. I used to love pink so much when I was younger I even wore it all the time. But now I pour all my love for feminine colors and things on my blog. I thought I was over it, but nah! I'm a girly girl at heart.

I love this box you've made. I don't know if I've posted a faux leather card on my blog, but I have on my facebook page, it's one of my very favorite techniques. The dry embossing always plays a very important role on the making of the faux leather look, and of course distress ink. Last card I did, I gave it with a chocolate birthday cake and they matched perfectly LOL. What I also enjoy about this is how masculine it looks... A very simple way to make male cards.

Well, this comment just became a conversation! Thanks for stopping by my blog!!! Blessings!
