"It is Well With My Soul," is such a theologically rich and comforting hymn. It provides great encouragement to those who are trusting in Christ, but experiencing the "trouble in this world," that our Savior warned would be our lot. (John 16:33).  It is even more powerful, when one considers the circumstances which prompted Horatio G. Spaffford to take pen in hand as he traveled across the sea to join his wife, who had earlier departed with their daughters for a trip abroad. The ship they were in encountered rough seas and sank. Many lives were lost inlcuding the Spafford's young daughters. As his ship passed over the spot where it was thought the first ship went down, he picked up his pen and, by the grace of God and for the edification of saints for ages to come, he penned this hymn:
It is Well With My Soul

              When peace, like a river, attendeth my way,
               when sorrows like sea billows roll;
               whatever my lot, thou hast taught me to say,
               It is well, it is well with my soul.
Refrain:
               It is well with my soul,
               it is well, it is well with my soul.

              Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come,
               let this blest assurance control,
               that Christ has regarded my helpless estate,
               and hath shed his own blood for my soul.
               (Refrain)

              My sin, oh, the bliss of this glorious thought!
               My sin, not in part but the whole,
               is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more,
               praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul!
               (Refrain)

              And, Lord, haste the day when my faith shall be sight,
               the clouds be rolled back as a scroll;
               the trump shall resound, and the Lord shall descend,
               even so, it is well with my soul.
               (Refrain)

Wonderfully Made

I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Psalm 139:14

 A special card for a special man. . .my dad! He recently celebrated his 81st birthday and we were so blessed to be able to spend it with him this year for the first time in many, many years!. Not only has he been a loving, caring, providing, fun and resourceful dad to me (and my sister and brother) but he has embraced my husband as his own son. It is my husband (the other special man in my life) who decided that we should relocate to be near my parents so that we could be near them in this season of life (and I'm SO thankful that he did!).  We are so thankful to the Lord for His gift of my father, who He fearfully and wonderfully made, and for granting him so many years.
