We celebrate not the birth of a baby

. . .But the incarnation of God! Emmanuel: God with us!

And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Philippians 2: 8-11

Our King and Judge

He reigns! While we celebrate the first coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and His birth, we must remember that though He became as us, He has always been and will always be the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Even now, He is ruling and reigning bringing all things into subjection until that grand and glorious day when He comes again! And this time, it will not be as meek and lowly infant offering salvation to all who will repent and believe, but as the righteous judge.  Are you ready to meet Him?
Thou Who Wast Rich Beyond All Splendor
(Click the title for a beautiful rendition of this hymn)
Thou who wast rich beyond all splendor,
All for love’s sake becamest poor;
Thrones for a manger didst surrender,
Sapphire-paved courts for stable floor.
Thou who wast rich beyond all splendor,
All for love’s sake becamest poor.
Thou who art God beyond all praising,
All for love’s sake becamest man;
Stooping so low, but sinners raising
Heavenward by thine eternal plan.
Thou who art God beyond all praising,
All for love’s sake becamest man.
Thou who art love beyond all telling,
Saviour and King, we worship thee.
Emmanuel, within us dwelling,
Make us what thou wouldst have us be.
Thou who art love beyond all telling,
Saviour and King, we worship thee.

Project Details

This project was for a tea at our church. As hostess for one of the tables (a cowboy themed table of course!), I wrapped up the ornaments that were being given in little packages and used Our Daily Bread Designs Stamps to decorate the inside card and outside tag.

As a closing note, this is my last project as a member of the ODBD Challenge Team.  I have been so blessed to serve for two years and will so miss the daily chats with my "sister sticks" and our "boss lady" Kelley. I am most thankful for all of the behind the scenes encouragement as well as the encouragement from our faithful ODBD supporters and sisters in Christ.  It has been a joy to serve and I look forward to seeing and encouraging the new Challenge Team members! Blessings!

Project Details

Instead of making a card with a fancy or alternative fold, I opted for something a bit different. . .a tea light gift set. I started with making a box for tags and then saw this clever pattern for a folding tree (SplitCoast Stampers Tutorials) and decided that's what the box would hold. Once the tree is disassembled and folded flat, the card layers on top, followed by the insert with the angled "Merry Christmas" and topped with the tea light.

For assembly, everything is removed from the box, which is turned upside down. Then, the white panel is inserted into the card and both are placed a top the box. The card then becomes the "skirt" and platform for the tree, beginning with the tea light "trunk" upon which the tree rests, followed by the topper (two brads glued together on a toothpick.) It all came together well, thanks to the ODBD's beautiful paper, stamps and dies!
