Full of His Glory. . .

“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts;
the whole earth is full of his glory!”
Isaiah 6:3

CHACB Challenge #18: Layer It!

One good way to use your hoard is to use lots of it all at once! So, let's see those layers! We need to see at least THREE layers on your project! (Ink, paint, embossing, and mixed media products do count as layers!) Drag out all of that hoarded paper or those embossing folders that are in the back of the drawer. Use those stamps, dies, and punches! Show us the layers!

We will again be selecting favorites and one talented participant will receive a fantastic gift certificate for their work from our fabulous sponsor for Lindy's Stamp Gang. You have until Sunday, Nov. 2 at midnight PDT to prepare, submit and link up your project to the CHAC Blog. Please visit the blog for complete rules and the prize package AND information on our wonderful sponsors!

Woe is Me. . .

"In the year that King Uzziah died I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up; and the train of his robe filled the temple. Above him stood the seraphim. Each had six wings: with two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. And one called to another and said:
“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts;
the whole earth is full of his glory!”
And the foundations of the thresholds shook at the voice of him who called, and the house was filled with smoke. And I said: “Woe is me! For I am lost; for I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts!”
Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a burning coal that he had taken with tongs from the altar. And he touched my mouth and said: “Behold, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away, and your sin atoned for.” Isaiah 6:1-7

This is such an incredible passage and one that engenders awe and yet is so encouraging. When the Lord revealed Himself to this lost sheep, I was overwhelmed and overcome; stricken by His infinite holiness and goodness and undone, as Isaiah says, over my sinful rebellion. Like a bright ray of sunshine streaming through the window revealing all of the dust, spots and stains where it the darkness it seemed cleaned only moments before, His holiness revealed my own lack thereof, and just as I was about to crumble, my eyes were opened to the beauty of my Savior. MY Savior. . .the burning coal who touched not my lips, but changed my heart: "your guilt is taken away, and your sin atoned for."  Praise God for His mercies in Christ Jesus!

Project description

This card is layer upon layer of hoarded stuff. It starts off with some silver cardstock, upon which is placed a metal layer using Add a Little Dazzle's white metal sheet embossed with a Stampin' Up! folder. Then I used a Spellbinder's Shapeabilities die (S5-186) on ice blue card stock inked on the backside with silver pigment ink from ColorBox. These were sprinkled around the sentiment panel, which is die cut with a Spellbinders die and stamped with an Our Daily Bread Designs stamp from Earth Verses, overstamped with ODBD Sparkling Snowflakes. I added a few pearls (which have since been straightened) a snowflake brad and the final layer is a coating of Tattered Angels glimmer mist. . so depending on how you count, there's anywhere from 4 to 7 layers. But if this one leaves you cold and

He changeth not. . .

We blossom and flourish as leaves on the tree,
And wither and perish—but naught changeth Thee.

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever.

Project description

Immortal, Invisible, God Only Wise
Immortal, invisible, God only wise,
In light inaccessible hid from our eyes,
Most blessèd, most glorious, the Ancient of Days,
Almighty, victorious, Thy great Name we praise.

Unresting, unhasting, and silent as light,
Nor wanting, nor wasting, Thou rulest in might;
Thy justice, like mountains, high soaring above
Thy clouds, which are fountains of goodness and love.

To all, life Thou givest, to both great and small;
In all life Thou livest, the true life of all;
We blossom and flourish as leaves on the tree,
And wither and perish—but naught changeth Thee.

Great Father of glory, pure Father of light,
Thine angels adore Thee, all veiling their sight;
But of all Thy rich graces this grace, Lord, impart
Take the veil from our faces, the vile from our heart.

All laud we would render; O help us to see
’Tis only the splendor of light hideth Thee,
And so let Thy glory, Almighty, impart,
Through Christ in His story, Thy Christ to the heart.

Walter Smith 1876

The focal point of this card (which is a bit hard to see) are lyrics taken from the beautiful hymn, Immortal, Invisible, Got Only Wise. The stamp is from one of my favorite Sweet and Sassy sets. Seasons of Change. It is stamped on a digi image from Polly's Paper Studio, which is layered atop a gold frame and another digi from Polly's. I used some crinkled seam binding, buttons and Spellbinders and Memory Box dies. The ivory background was embossed with a folder from Stampin up to provde a bit more texture. It is finished off with three brads.
