Wisdom

For through wisdom your days will be many and years will be added to your life. Proverbs 9:11
Tucked away near the center of your Bible, you'll find the book of Proverbs. We've all read them and, at times wondered as some appear to contradict one another. We know, however, they cannot be at odds as God's Word is perfect, infallible and without contradiction: it is our feeble, sin-dimmed minds that cannot (and will not, at times) understand.

The book of Proverbs is not a litany of the promises of God (as in "if you do this, God will do that"), rather it is filled with observations contrasting the foolish and the wise. It is the observations of the wisest, naturally born man who ever lived, King Solomon, and it is filled with sound advice. Handily, there is one chapter for every day of even the longest month! I find it fascinating that the book portrays folly as an adulterous woman, and wisdom, a woman of virtue, more valuable than rubies and pearls.

I am also most thankful that the Lord promises to provide wisdom if only we, who are His children, will ask. My prayer for each of you, dear friends and sisters, is that the Lord would grant you wisdom, that you might grow in grace and spread that sweet smelling aroma that is the fragrance of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ..
