CHACB Challenge #22:

Gloria Designs ChallengeIt's time for our final challenge of 2014 at Craft Hoarders Anonymous. Many of us travel around the holidays, so let's celebrate our adventures! So dig into your hoard and find some items that are vacation or travel themed. Do you have a hoard of cruise ship ephemera? Do you have a box of transportation stamps? Do you have a stash of camping themed papers? Or piles of Disney embellishments? Show them off! Create a vacation or travel themed project for us!

We will again be selecting favorites and one talented participant will receive a fantastic prize for their work from our fabulous sponsor for this last challenge of 2014, Spellbinders Paper Arts! You have until Sunday, Dec. 28 at midnight PST to prepare, submit and link up your project to the CHAC Blog. Please visit the blog for complete rules and the prize package AND information on our wonderful sponsors!
This is also my final challenge as a member of the most wonderful design team in the world! (Thank you, Gloria for the opportunity. This past year has been so amazing, but other adventures await a little closer to home.)

Project description

When I saw the challenge and looked through my hoard, I noticed the Layers of Color postcard stamp and knew I had to use it. At this time of year, we celebrate the incarnation of our Savior, Jesus, fully God and fully man. Jesus traveled further (and most likely farther, as well) than anyone has or ever will. That is something that I'll never fully comprehend, but for which I am eternally grateful.

"Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men.

And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." Philippians 2:1-13

I used one of my favorite hymns that so clearly expresses in the previous post but here is another dating from the fourth century. And, if you'll click on the hymn title, it will take you to one of my favorite versions.

Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence
 Liturgy of St. James, 4th Century

Let all mortal flesh keep silence,
And with fear and trembling stand;
Ponder nothing earthly minded,
For with blessing in His hand,
Christ our God to earth descendeth,
Our full homage to demand.

King of kings, yet born of Mary,
As of old on earth He stood,
Lord of lords, in human vesture,
In the body and the blood;
He will give to all the faithful
His own self for heavenly food.

Rank on rank the host of heaven
Spreads its vanguard on the way,
As the Light of light descendeth
From the realms of endless day,
That the powers of hell may vanish
As the darkness clears away.

At His feet the six wingèd seraph,
Cherubim with sleepless eye,
Veil their faces to the presence,
As with ceaseless voice they cry:
Alleluia, Alleluia
Alleluia, Lord Most High!

This card uses dies from our sponsor, Spellbinders and Layers of Colors Vintage Postcard and Christmas Verses stamps. The paper is Prima Printery. Ink is Versafine Onyx and Ranger Distress in Antique Linen and Vintage Photo. The black twine is from Really Reasonable Ribbon, the tan from the hardward store and the gold thread, a thrift store find. The key is Graphic 45. I love that the key and the paper both have a crown on them as Jesus is our king, risen victorious from the grave, and even now ruling and reigning at the right hand of the Father.
