All Things Lovely. . .

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. Philippians 4:8

If this scripture is familiar, that's because you saw it right here last week! But, no apologies as we can NEVER think too often of our Lord (who alone meets all the criterion set forth in this directive: true, honorable, just, commendable, lovely, excellent and worthy of praise).

So this day, if you're struggling and if your mind is wandering down the dark, fearful path of "what if", take those thoughts captive to Christ, as we are commanded to do. Don't allow yourself to be controlled by your emotions, but with right thinking, biblical thinking, turn those thoughts to the paths of righteousness, the bright path where the light of the Lord shines as the noon day sun! Remember that He gave Himself for you (if you are trusting in Christ alone for your eternal salvation) and He himself said that not a single one of His will perish or be plucked from His hand. Remember that He who can calm the sea, often brings the storm that knocks us from little boat of self-sufficiency, not that we might drown, but that we might be made more like Him and that we might trust Him even more fully. He is in control of ALL things. . .as the disciples were reminded in Mark 4:35-41 and Matthew 8:23-27. 10. Your card is beautiful, Jan! I never tire of God's Word, and it takes time for some things to sink in, that's why we need to "think on such things" God bless.

  11. Great exhortation...Alistair Begg is one of my favorite speakers too. I am guilty as charge ma'am and have been so convicted that in every area that I am emotionally charged about is just revealing how I am not believing the gospel in that situation or for that time frame. Oh how marvelous is the good news of Christ!
